KUCHING CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY
WHAT TO EXPECT: THE SUNDAY BIBLE SCHOOL & THE GOSPEL MEETING
WRITTEN IN ENGLISH

If you are new to Christianity and would want to understand more concerning the Bible and the truth it proclaims, we would be happy to welcome you to the Sunday Bible School, and the Sunday afternoon Gospel meeting. We would also be interested to know you more in person. It would be good if you could come in good and decent attire.

The first part of the Sunday Bible school is usually chorus singing. We have no musical accompaniment but would sing in harmony and from the heart. We believe that this is a freer and better reflection of the content of our enjoyment and soul reality in our relationship with God our Saviour. It also provides a good atmosphere for our visitors to join in the singing as well.

A 30-45 minute Bible lesson follows after the singing, and the content would usually be ranging from "beginner to intermediate level" (just to provide a general conception). We believe that the truth of God has reached people of all ages over generations, and the same wonderful truths still do the same work today in many lives. We also believe that spiritual truths are non-academic, and contain valuable and attractive lessons for an entire lifetime, and so it is learned well in an atmosphere of mixed ages.  We therefore encourage parents, children and young people to enjoy simple Bible teaching together.

The afternoon Gospel meeting, and sometimes a ministry of the word of God, would have a more sober tone since it would seek to address issues of greater significance for time and for eternity. Spiritual matters have eternal value and weight, and sadly, are the most ignored aspects of human thought and consideration, which has resulted in a downgrade in the quality of life every where. The preaching of the Good News of God's salvation, and the ministry of the word of God seek to overturn this downward path and bring spiritual realities to the forefront of an individual's life, that he might know the blessing of God.

WHAT TO EXPECT: THE FRIDAY NIGHT BIBLE READING & PRAYER MEETING
WRITTEN IN ENGLISH

For serious Bible study, we would like to invite you to the Friday night conversational Bible Reading. If you have a Bible it will helpful to bring along. Nevertheless, there are copies of the Bible available, and one could be provided for your use during the study, and returned at the end of the meeting.

We prefer to use the King James (Authorised Version) Bible, as this translation faithfully and accurately represents the word of God in Modern English, with its use of the singular pronouns ('thee' and 'thou', etc.) and sentence structures which best reflect the distinctive grammar and cadence of the Hebrew and Greek language of the Holy Scriptures.

There is no intent of being old-fashioned or strictly being traditional in the choice of the Bible here, but more so, the desire to be faithful to the word of God and its inspiration.

Commonly, in the Bible Reading, a book of the Bible is studied from beginning to the end over a period of time, progressing in the manner of a careful verse by verse study in every meeting. We believe that this is the sound and proper approach to interpreting the Bible correctly and to "rightly divide" its truth. It is by taking the word of God literally and contextually, that we are able to derive spiritual truths and lessons that are applicable to us personally and collectively today. God still speaks, and it is when we seek Him in His word according to the sense of its original intent and audience that we gain the greatest benefit of His living truth.

Prior to the Bible Reading is the assembly (church) prayer meeting. Brothers in the fellowship of the assembly take part one by one to bring petition and supplication before God in the congregation. Visitors are welcome to observe in silence.

WHAT TO EXPECT: THE SUNDAY (LORD'S DAY) MORNING REMEMBRANCE MEETING
(THE BREAKING OF BREAD)
WRITTEN IN ENGLISH

This can be considered as the "worship" meeting in contemporary terms.

For more on the things we practise on such an occasion, please refer to the section, "What We Practise".

For visitors not acquainted or associated in the fellowship of a local assembly, we would cordially and warmly welcome all such to be good observers of the "Lord's supper" meeting.

Letters of commendation are usually expected from visiting believers in the good of assembly fellowship.

Singing would be congregational chorus singing in harmony without musical instruments. We use the "Believer's Hymn Book". Copies are provided for use in the Hall.

Usually, it is good to be in your "Sunday best" attire. Due to the climate and local economic conditions, that would not include a suit jacket.

Collection for funds are only meant for fellow Christians in fellowship. We do not make any collections at all from all visitors who are not in fellowship, and neither do we expect monetary contributions of good will from any party which are not associated with autonomous local assemblies that are gathered specially to the authority of the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We welcome all visitors to stay on throughout the entire Sunday's activities, especially the Bible School and Gospel Meeting, that are held after the Breaking of Bread meeting. This would mean a time allocated from 9:00am till lunch time. Please refer to the Meeting Times Schedule for more details.
